Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

What is EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR is a psychotherapy approach used to quickly and efficiently heal emotional wounds, blocks and limitations.

EMDR has been used successfully in patients with PTSD, depression, anxiety, panic attacks and other issues such as weight loss and fear of flying. EMDR is approved as an effective treatment for PTSD by the respected American Psychological Association, American Psychiatric Association, and the Veteran’s Administration.

EMDR Approach

EMDR "reprocessing" combines dual attention to a traumatic memory with alternating sound and vibrations. The unique combination of methods in EMDR appears to stimulate an intrinsic capacity of the human brain to resolve emotional disturbance and gain adaptive insights in a manner similar to what occurs spontaneously during dreaming (rapid eye movement) sleep.
